QUALITY CONTROL AND MATERIALS

Peek Injection Molding

Polyether ether ketone (PEEK) is a colorless thermoplastic polymer, which belongs to the family of polyaryletherketone (PAEK), and is one of the popular engineering thermoplastics used in the world today. Owing to its excellent mechanical properties, it is one of the widely used injection molding resins in use today. We, at Veejay Plastic, provide injection molding of PEEK. We deliver injection molded PEEK parts for use in different applications in defense, marine, and aerospace industries.

Properties of Polyether Ether Ketone Injection Molding Material

PEEK is a high-temperature thermoplastic that offers excellent chemical resistance. Owing to its rigid structure, chemical resistance, and outstanding creep resistance, injection-molded PEEK parts are becoming an effective replacement for metal parts in several applications. The following is a brief and quick synopsis of the PEEK material:

  • • Opacity: Opaque
  • • Specific Gravity: 1.3 – 1.37
  • • Strength: Very Strong
  • • Shrinkage: 0.2% -1.6%
  • • Service Temperature: 250°F – 260°F
  • • Melting Point: 340°F – 345°F
  • • Deflection Temperature: 550°F

Features of PEEK Molding Material

PEEK resins can withstand high temperatures and offer reliable service in harsh environments. This lightweight, yet sturdy resin possesses high tensile strength, which makes it a brilliant reinforcement material. The following features of this material have contributed to its popularity:

  • • Excellent chemical resistance at high temperatures
  • • Excellent stress-crack resistance and fatigue resistance
  • • Extreme strength, stiffness, and hardness
  • • Excellent resistance to steam and high-pressure water
  • • Great resistance against thermal degradation
  • • Easily injection molded
  • • Sterilized through autoclaving
  • • Produces no toxic gases on exposure to flame
  • • Excellent resistance to hydrolysis and chemicals
  • • Zero moisture absorption

Applications of PEEK Injection Molding

PEEK injection molded parts are used in various regular and harsh industrial applications. Their excellent strength to weight ratio as well as heat resistance properties makes them an ideal choice for injection molding and overmolding. PEEK is overmolded to produce reinforced components for automotive and aerospace applications.

At Veejay Plastic, we regularly injection mold the following parts:

  • • Profiles
  • • Tubing
  • • Bearings
  • • Valves
  • • Electrical Cable Insulation
  • • Seals
  • • Filters
  • • Piston Parts
  • • Gaskets
  • • Compressor Plate Valves
  • • HPLC Columns

Although easily machinable, it is always recommended to partner with a trusted and experienced injection molding services provider when working with PEEK. At Veejay Plastic, we have an in-depth understanding of various processing temperatures required for PEEK parts. Else, the mechanical properties of the parts may differ. Our advanced PEEK injection molding capabilities have helped us meet diverse client requirements effectively. Would you like to discuss the PEEK injection molding requirements with us?
